Ugadi Pachadi Recipe (Traditional Andhra & Telangana Style)
Ugadi Pachadi is a special dish prepared for Ugadi (Telugu New Year), symbolizing the six flavors of life—sweet, sour, salty, bitter, spicy, and tangy. Each ingredient represents different emotions of life.
Ingredients (Serves 4-5)

Raw Mango – 1 small (chopped finely) (Sourness - life’s challenges)

Neem Flowers – 1 tbsp (Bitter - difficulties in life)

Jaggery – ½ cup (Sweet - happiness)

Tamarind Pulp – ¼ cup (Tangy - surprises)

Salt – ½ tsp (Saltiness - fear & stability)

Chili Powder or Green Chilies – ½ tsp or 1 chopped chili (Spicy - anger & excitement)

Water – 1 to 1.5 cups
Preparation Steps

Soak Tamarind – Soak tamarind in ½ cup warm water for 15 minutes. Extract the pulp and discard the fibers.

Dissolve Jaggery – Mix jaggery in 1 cup of water and let it dissolve completely.

Mix Ingredients – In a bowl, mix the tamarind pulp, jaggery water, and chopped raw mango.

Add Flavors – Add neem flowers, salt, and chili powder (or chopped green chili).

Adjust Consistency – If needed, add more water to get a slightly liquid consistency.

Stir Well and let it sit for a few minutes before serving.
